The Best Things About Higher Fuel Costs!

WINS A $25.00 GAS CARD!
This past weekend I was visiting New Orleans, I was talking to a few friends who lived there and we started discussing changes in the economy and how they affected people on a local level. It got me to thinking about how higher fuel costs actually help us in ways we never imagined. The following is a list of things that are actually benefits of higher fuel costs. Feel free to add to the list in comments below.
1. The days of teenagers driving the “drag” through town are over. Minimum wage jobs don’t allow kids to drive around in circles tormenting each other in load cars with that get 10 miles per gallon.
2. In scarier neighborhoods, police are reporting less gang activity and the number of drive by shootings is actually on the decline!
3. Commuter travel times across the country are decreasing. More people are sharing rides or working from home so that means that there are less cars on the road which means less traffic. In New York City, the number of cars crossing the Brooklyn Bridge has dropped by almost 7% in the last 30 days!
4. Less cars on the road mean less emissions which means less smog which is better for the environment!
5. Cheaper Cars! For those of us that still like to drive SUV’s and can afford the $5.00 gas, they have really come down in price. You can get a minimum of $10,000 off sticker on current models and in many cases $15,000 to $20,000.
6. Cheaper Middle America Vacations! Places like New York City and Los Angeles that are easily reachable by air from Europe are more expensive than ever with all of the Europeans coming in at essentially half-price. However, in places like Dallas, New Orleans, San Antonio, Branson, Atlanta, Denver, and national parks like Yellow Stone, you can actually stay for less than you could in the past. Many of these locations are places that families in middle America drive to for summer vacations. Since the number of travelers is down, so are the prices! You can stay at the Ritz Carlton in New Orleans this summer for $129.00! In New York, it’s $629.00!
7. With the increased cost of gas, we should see less and less huge jacked up trucks driven by younger drivers. This will make it safer on the road and in cases of accidents.
What is your favorite thing about higher gas prices? Don’t forget, that the best response to this article gets a $25.00 gas card!

1. Less big loud diesel trucks driving around.
2. Less people hitting the gas to get in front of you just to slow down at the light.
3. Less drag racing where there shouldn’t be.
4. If you have stock in gas companies or gas/oil on your land with all mineral rights you should think the prices are great.
5. More people will carpool which will help develop community.
6. More people in the HOV Lane and less on the main road.
Great excuse to get out of mowing the lawn. “Honey the price of gas is too high! I’ll mow it next week to save money.” It could get you out of 6 or 7 mowings this summer.
