Though we are certainly seeing the effects in our own community, this is a national trend that continues to grow with the passing summer months.

Home Ownership Rates Lowest Since 2000, Hitting the College Station Bryan Area
June 28th, 2010 Categories: The Realtor's Life
Fewer Americans own homes in the first quarter of 2010 than in any quarter since the beginning of 2000, according to data from the Census Bureau. The seasonally adjusted homeownership rate fell from 67.3 percent to 67.2 percent. It is the lowest rate in almost a decade, and the effects are moving from the national to the local level. Though it took some time to reach our community, we are beginning to see more foreclosures and more vacant homes in College Station and Bryan.

How much will the seller take? Depends… How strong is your offer?
I recently examined home sales in the Pebble Creek subdivision of College Station to assist potential buyers who are looking for the right deal. Another breathtaking and popular subdivision in College Station is Indian Lakes. By request, I have examined the home sales in Indian Lakes since January 1, 2010. This is a reminder that there is always the possibility that the seller may take another offer.

College Station’s Historic District
June 24th, 2010 Categories: The Realtor's Life
One of the most beautiful spots for real estate in the College Station area is nestled away in a quiet corner of the Southside of the city. The Historic District falls within the square of Anderson, Welsh, George Bush, and Holleman. And though there are many historic sites all throughout that area, it mainly refers to the homes on Lee, Pershing, Park Place, and Dexter.

Should You Rent or Buy College Station Real Estate?
June 21st, 2010 Categories: The Realtor's Life
A big question I get, especially currently as people are trying to save money, is: “Should I buy or rent a home?” Whether it is more financially sound to buy or rent a home varies greatly across the nation. For example, in a place like Omaha, Nebraska it is better to rent as a result of the huge gap between rental and purchase prices. But here in College Station, it makes more fiscal sense to purchase a home, especially if you intend to stay in the area for at least five years.

The Art of the Deal in College Station Real Estate
June 18th, 2010 Categories: The Realtor's Life
Helping my clients to buy and sell homes in College Station is an art I have been perfecting for the past 15 years. It is a never-ending education, as I am constantly working on learning and doing more. One important lesson I have learned during this time is what I like to call the art of the deal. Sometimes a transaction is more than a one-dimensional business deal; in a one-dimensional deal, I would help my clients simply buy or sell a home. But sometimes real estate is about more than just one house. Throw a few more variables into the mix, and the transaction requires more art, more ingenuity. Let me illustrate with an example.
