College Station Not the Only Area with Reduced Home Prices

Home Ownership Rates Lowest Since 2000, Hitting the College Station Bryan Area

Fewer Americans own homes in the first quarter of 2010 than in any quarter since the beginning of 2000, according to data from the Census Bureau. The seasonally adjusted homeownership rate fell from 67.3 percent to 67.2 percent. It is the lowest rate in almost a decade, and the effects are moving from the national to the local level. Though it took some time to reach our community, we are beginning to see more foreclosures and more vacant homes in College Station and Bryan.

College Station’s Historic District

One of the most beautiful spots for real estate in the College Station area is nestled away in a quiet corner of the Southside of the city. The Historic District falls within the square of Anderson, Welsh, George Bush, and Holleman. And though there are many historic sites all throughout that area, it mainly refers to the homes on Lee, Pershing, Park Place, and Dexter.

A&M Consolidated Named One of America’s Best High Schools by Newsweek

Newsweek issues a yearly feature wherein they rank America’s Best High Schools. Just over 1600 schools – only six percent of all public schools in the U.S. – made the list. For the fifth consecutive year, A&M Consolidated High School has made this prestigious list. This year, they are ranked at #970 out of the thousands upon thousands of high schools across the nation.
